New to the cast of Japanese eateries in Tainan is the Gin Gira Japanese Casual Dining Restaurant in the city center. Opened in January, it has a simple, yet stylish interior accented by wood, bamboo and careful lighting. The menu covers the usual Japanese dishes, with a range of meats and fish, and rice and noodle dishes done in various styles to compliment. There are a number of salads as well. Prices range between NT$50 for small dishes to NT$300 for larger items. Japanese Chef Yonaisan Yagami is well experienced as he runs two restaurants in Japan. Among his recommendations are the Japanese Style Stewed Pork Knuckles (NT$150), Diced Beef Steak (NT$280) and Tuna Omelet Rice (NT$180). To lubricate your dinner conversation there are big Taiwan and Kirin Beers, a wide selection of hard liquors and a number of in-house mixed drinks. Specials change daily, but new customers can expect to receive one free drink per customer.
