Sweet-tooths have cause to celebrate. Clearly
inspired by certain American chains that have yet to reach
South Taiwan, Mr. Don has begun serving up a wide selection
of donuts in the heart of Tainan. Two minutes walk from the
city's train and bus stations, more than a few travelers are
dropping in and buying something for their journey. That said,
the spic-and-span (not to mention very colorful) interior
is a pleasant place to linger over a donut or two, with friendly
service and more than enough space to relax. Individual donuts
are small enough to make sampling two or more very easy and
are priced from NT$25 to NT$35; the twenty-plus flavors include
Black Forest Chocolate, White Chocolate, Mango Chocolate,
Strawberry, Peanut, and combinations thereof. Surprisingly,
coffee and tea are not yet available, but there is cola to
quench your thirst. Call for details of bulk discounts and
daily specials. --By Steven Crook, translated by Annie Liu
