Two
things make this eatery noteworthy: its central
location, within walking distance of the boutiques
and movie theaters that line JhongJheng Road; and
the fact that it sells food which is very inexpensive,
yet superior to much of the grassroots grub available
in "the snack capital of Taiwan." The
owners of A-Shun-Shi have been in this business
for four decades, and their expertise shows. Dishes
prepared fresh in front of you include Wenzhou
Wonton Soup, Hongsao Beef Noodles, Sweet & Sour
Noodles, plus various kinds of dumplings. Most
are priced below NT$50. In addition to these familiar
favorites, there's a surprise on the menu: Mexican
Noodles (NT$45). While not exactly Mexican food
as North and Central Americans know it, this dish
is certainly worth trying. Soft drinks and beer
are available. Unfortunately, parking around here
is a headache; arrive on foot if possible. There's
additional seating upstairs. |
