If
you want something different, charming and spacious, GI-GI
on YiDong Road--the chain's fourth Tainan outlet--is perhaps
the place for you. The food here is remarkably fresh. You can
choose a clear soup or miso base for the Seafood Hotpot (NT$338),
which is full of pieces of grouper. Salted chicken fried in
seasame oil has a fresh and tender taste found in the Seasame
Chicken Hotpot (NT$299), another popular dish. There is also
a Health Food Vegetable Hot Pot (NT$288). Full of mushrooms
and fresh vegetables, it is a favorite of the nine-to-five
crowd, especially young ladies. In addition to hotpots, there's
a do-it-yourself Japanese style terracotta-hotplate, and when
the sauce is poured onto the plate, the rising steam adds to
the atmosphere. For another NT$30, you have traditional Pork
Gravy & Rice. Furthermore, the restaurant offers three
types of bread/sandwiches (NT$60 to NT$80): a rosemary flavored
Foccacia, Panini, and Pocket Buns that are crispy on the outside
and soft inside. These three can be loaded with beef, pork,
fish and other ingredients, making them popular takeaways.
