The National Palace Museum,
home to the world's largest collection of Chinese
artifacts, is now home to an upgraded Taiwanese
teahouse. Serving "a variety of Taiwanese
teas and Chinese snacks", the classical San-hsi-t'ang
Teahouse is a fantastic place for a light lunch
or afternoon tea. With all the recent traffic
in and out of the newly-renovated National Palace
Museum, the teahouse is getting its fair share
of business. The menu is comprised of small snacks,
dim sum, light desserts, and tempting pots of
tea. For the lunch-hungry crowd, several varieties
of dumplings, barbecue pork buns, and soups are
available for less than NT$200. The famous teas
range from NT$150-NT$200 a pot. Desserts include
Sesame Slices, Green Bean Cake and Lotus Seed
Sweet Soup. The interior design of the Teahouse
is simply stunning. From the dark wood furniture
to the soft Chinese music playing in the background,
the atmosphere is relaxing and classy. The next
time you visit the museum, be sure to stop by
the teahouse on the fourth floor of the main building.
