Hapa Yakiniku Izakaya Bar, as the name suggests, is a modern-looking yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) lounge bar. Jason, the owner, also owns Kama Lounge Bar. In creating Hapa, he has combined a trendy yakiniku place and a sake bar. To help make the food taste as good as possible, this classy bar/restaurant employs a stylish staff with a lot of professional grilling experience. --By Joan Chang, translated by Ann Lee, photos by Andy Lin
A. The juicy Beef Ribs (NT$460) have a tender texture. For the second bite, squeeze a bit of lemon juice on top; the sour juice goes well with the meat. The thick Ox Tongue (NT$450), is accompanied by green onions and isn't too greasy. The Cherry-Fed Duck/Duck Breast (櫻桃合鴨, NT$160) is made with a special breed of duck that Taiwan exports to Japan. You can also try their Prime-Grade Boneless Beef Ribs (NT$240). Because they are kept in cold storage instead of the freezer, you can really taste the quality.
B. The friendly table-side service and professional staff at Hapa attracts large crowds of diners.
