Strolling around East District with a friend one day, I happened across a vintage Austin Mini that had been transformed into a streetside vendor selling Japanese Oden-style snacks. This creative idea, a first in Taiwan, is the brainchild of a woman in her thirties and a young man in his twenties. These two friends came up with their business plan about six months ago. The Japanese-Style Set Menu and Oden snacks available for lunch and Oden selection is NT$30 in the evenings. The soup base is slow cooked with katsuo and konbu and the ingredients are carefully selected to ensure they taste authentic and delicious. This movable eatery has a lot of potential, and can be turned into a mobile bar on hot summer nights, where patrons can enjoy a cocktail on the side of the street.
