It is a bit of an effort to get to this restaurant, as one must climb a stone staircase made up of 106 steps. However, it is definitely worth it, as the top has the Red Castle Restaurant, a beautiful red brick building, and good views of Tamshui. Red Castle mostly serves Taiwanese cuisine, but also offers dishes from Szechwan, Canton, Hunan and even Thailand. From time to time, the chef creates new recipes and adds them to the menu. These include Tofu Braised in Lily Leaves (NT$280) and Garlic Shrimp (NT$280). If you're not hungry enough for a gourmet meal but would like to enjoy the view and the surroundings of this architectural treasure, try the Italian-style cafe on the third floor.
