★Exhibition

Formosa. Formoonsense. Formoresensuous--'Mad' in Taiwan
It "FORMOSA, FORMOONSENSE, FORMORESENSUOUS--'Mad' in Taiwan"' is the third exhibition in the Cyclorama Digital Art Creation Series. Combining digital images and installation art, the artists of Interbreeding Field built Jello Walls made of plastic barrels and acrylic boxes in front of the bamboo court to invite the audience to witness the evolution of their barrel series. With the installation of the Star-shaped Tower, Jello Walls, and Lighting Chair, the artists intend to alter the atmosphere of the exhibition hall, and explore and open up a dialogue between the audience and the space. Sharing the same tone of the FORMOSA Series 1 'FOR.MO.SA', 2008, with the added wooden melody of the 'Star-shaped Tower', "FORMOSA. FORMOONSENSE, FORMORESENSUOUS--'Mad' in Taiwan" composes a spring fantasy song about how the plastic water vats and chemical resistant square containers evolved. This is demonstrated with an immersive 360-degree cyclorama digital image, which seems to reveal a temporal-spatial dimension to the "making process" in architectural art between the audience and the installation on-site. Exhibition date: Until July 26, 2009. Venue: National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, East Lobby.

Crossing the Spatio Temporality of Ink Painting: An Exhibition of Huang Kuang-Nan's Course of Creation
Ink-painting specialist Huang Kuang-Nan is currently president of the National Taiwan University of the Arts. For many years, Huang has sought to promote dialogue between realistic and abstract painting in terms of theme and style. His works fully embody the characteristics of ink painting and reflect the Zeitgeist of our time. Huang successfully blends the unique, irreplaceable characteristics of ink painting with themes that are intimately connected to our contemporary culture and society, creating a new style of ink painting. He starts with the realism of Chinese literati painting, combining the art form with scenes from everyday life to create an ideal artistic conception. He then pursues a unique brand of formalistic abstraction based on the fusion of Eastern and Western artistic thinking. Exhibition Dates: Until July 19, 2009. Venue: National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, B2 Exhibition Room.

Darwin NOW Special Exhibition
This year happens to be the 200th birthday of world-renowned naturalist Charles Darwin, and the 150th anniversary of his well-known publication "On the Origin of Species". Exhibition time/place: Until Oct. 11 at National Museum of Natural Science. Admission: NT$150/person. For more information, call (04) 2322-6940.

Chang Meng-yuan & Hsieh Zhi-feng's Pottery Sculpting Exhibition
"Chang Meng-yuan's Solo Exhibition: In the Taiwanese artistic pottery world, artist Chang Meng-yuan is one of the few artists who chooses animals as a theme for his creative pieces. His work is worthy of a trip for all pottery art lovers. Exhibition time/place: Until July 8 at Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau, Cultural Relics Display Room (1). Hsieh Zhi-feng's Pottery Sculpting Exhibition: Combining the traditional and innovative elements, the theme of this pottery exhibition is divided into two separate categories, as the artist uses his own interpretation to portray natural style and quality. Time/place: Until July 8 at Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau (600, YingCai Rd), Cultural Relics Display Room (2). For more information, contact the Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau at (04) 2372-7311.

Urban Bodies
The exhibition will open on Saturday July 11 at 6:30 pm and features new works by Taiwanese and foreign artists. This collaboration brings together a diverse range of styles and mediums including paintings, sculpture, installation, video art, stencils, and a graphic novel. These artists work with a wide range of materials to produce evocative and thought provoking artworks that look at some of the drives behind human behavior and explore the boundaries between free will and control. Date: July 11-Auguest 16. Venue: Stock 20 galleries (6-1, Lane 37, FuXing Rd, Sec. 4). Admission free.
