Owner Charlene Chen was inspired to open this comfortable little
place during her many trips to Japan and says it mixes Japanese
and Western flavors. Located on a busy little alley near Feng Chia
University, Sucre Et Jus stands apart from its neighbors, as the
ceiling-to-floor glass partition looks in a orange-tinted, peaceful-looking
interior, featuring modern Japanese art and motifs, light wood flooring,
and small tables covered with Japanese-motif placemats. The similar,
spacious upstairs area is frequently used for student group gatherings
and study sessions. Throughout the day and night, there is relaxing
lounge and other music. The most exceptional thing here, though,
is the unique drinks and snacks that also are Japanese-inspired
and use healthy ingredients. These include items like the "Light
Snow" (NT$75) a cold, refreshing combination of the Japanese
Calpis drink and dry sake; a NT$40 tasty shaved-ice-like combination
of green tea ice and jelly squares and red beans ("yu jr jin
shr"); and the sesame pudding (NT$30). Heading towards Feng
Chia gate from the Feng Chia Road McDonald's, turn left at the first
lane and right on the second alley, and it's a couple stores up
on the right.
