The Sapporo
Cafe is one of my favorites of all the cafes on Jing Ming 1st Street
– not so much because of great decor but more for the gleaming,
crystal clean, and comfortable feeling you get here whether you
are sitting inside or out on the outdoor patio. I especially like
the Daily Special (NT$200) such as the Crispy Chicken Thigh and
the Crispy Cuttlefish, both are very good choices; the crisp deep
fried chicken thighs are succulent and comes with many side dishes
including coffee, tea, or juice. The prices are comparatively reasonable
considering the cafe location. There are also Western style dishes
to choose from such as the Waffle Special and the Pizza Special,
both also priced at NT$200. At night, the waiter will light a small
oil lamp with an antiquated feel at your table, which will make
sitting out on the patio particularly pleasing. In the afternoons
of early spring and summer, sit back with a cup of coffee and enjoy
the many lovely couples engaged in lively conversations, which makes
for quite a beautiful scene.
