Nan Chuang Township, in northeastern Miaoli county, is a naturally
attractive place that has yet to be polluted and ruined due to its
isolated location. Nan Chuang then becomes a great retreat for urban
people who desire to get away from the bustle of the world during
holidays. After crossing the Nan Chuang Bridge, taking a left along
the dragonfly mountain road and following the signs will lead you
to this little Shangri-la ¡V Son Rose. The name of this resort literally
means ¡§mountain road roses.¡¨ The owner explains that the name was
derived from his daughter¡¦s liking for the poem, Walking into the
Mountain, written by Chinese poet Tu Fu, and his own fond for roses.
Mountains surround Son Rose and the decor consists of white walls,
black tiles and red bricks, which makes Son Rose all the more unique.
At the hillside
entrance, with an entrance fee of NT$150 will cover dinning. This
two story establishment, with simple food furnishing, has a couple
wooden tables and chairs on the second floor balcony for customers
to enjoy the spectacular mountainous scenery and the infinite green
landscape. The specialty here is the rose coffee topped with a fresh
rose bud with white cream. Could one imagine of a more luxurious
coffee? Finally, one may enjoy the afternoon sunshine and an occasional
gentle breeze. As this place has slowly become a famous tourist
spot on the weekends, be prepared to see other visitors there or
you might not enjoy your journey.
