Classic
hang-out PJ's Cafe has moved to classy new digs on the same pedestrian
street (named 'Soho' by the developers) as the newly-opened Bonita
Senorita, just off of Da Ye Road near Ching Cheng Road. This third
incarnation of PJ's places more emphasis on the 'cafe' part of the
name, in keeping with the atmosphere of the street and neighborhood
(two blocks from 'tea street'). A no-smoking, no-shoes upstairs
area features tatami mats and power outlets by every table to allow
visitors to bring their laptops and tap away. Outdoor seating and
a greater emphasis on coffee, lunches and smaller dishes like salads
and small sandwiches for under NT$100 continue this trend.
PJ's regulars should not despair, however, as all his traditional
menu items are still available (hoagies, burritos, etc.) as is his
extensive book collection. On the first floor, the bar from PJ's
last location has been moved over and re-sized to suit the new setting.
And, of course, behind the old bar is still the same friendly face
of owner PJ.
