Public food-safety has helped introduce healthier options to the market. The young couple running this restaurant provides fresh vegetable dishes from local farms, made with ingredients that aren't stored for over three days. The restaurant also sells seasonings, tofu, fresh seafood and meat for reasonable prices. Another branch on MoFan Street in West District offers to-go "bento" boxed meals, a second-floor dining area, and seminars and events on the third floor that all are welcome to join. --By Jason Chen

Today, many people care about maintaining a balanced, healthy diet, assisted by technology and medical advances. Owner Wang Ming-yong's motto "organic means nutritious, healthy and non-polluted food" applies on the served vegetable dishes shipped directly from the local farms; he also makes TV show and seminar appearances to promote the idea of eating healthy, organic food. His first-floor shop sells organic vegetables, fruit, ingredients, bread, nutritional drinks, olive oil, and detergent. On the second floor, a restaurant serves a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items such as pasta and noodle dishes, salads, hot pots and healthy set meals (menu items average NT$180-300). Besides delicious, lightly-seasoned delicacies, this cozy shop also features monthly organic fruits and vegetables on sale for bargain prices. --By Jason Chen
