Greater Taichung's wait for its own IKEA seems well worth it, as this enormous 36,000-square-meter (11,000-ping) store is the largest on the island--so big that floor route maps with "you are here" notations are needed. Besides furniture, the third-floor, 7,600-square-meter Market Hall stocks thousands of household items, from table and cooking ware to textiles, lighting and decorations. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Angel Pu
A. The fourth-floor cafeteria-style restaurant--IKEA's largest in Taiwan--seats over 700 in an attractive area and serves favorites like Swedish Meatballs (NT$120 for 10, NT$180 for 20). There is also a third-floor Market Hall Cafe, and an IKEA Bistro and Swedish Food Market on both the first and second floors.
B. The cavernous second-floor Self-Serve Furniture Area gives an idea of how big this IKEA is.
C. The fourth floor has 64 attractive furniture showrooms, totaling 6,600 square meters, including 22 living rooms, three dining rooms, 17 kitchens, 13 bedrooms and four children's rooms.
