As noted last month, La Cite touts itself as the island's first fashion shopping mall, with name-brand shops offering goods at cut-rate prices, due to the fact that most items are from last season or year's lines. The mall officially and partially opened on November 12 with several dozen fashion stores, including Benetton, Calvin Klein, Christian Lacroix, Coca-Cola, DKNY, Emporio Armani, Fendi, Lacoste and Moschino. There are also some cafes and restaurants, plus a mix of other stores selling a variety of items, such as watches and other fashion accessories. At this point, the first floor level, with its attractive outdoor fountains and European-style decor, is progressively opening and will be followed by a large underground area before the lunar new year, according to management. To get there from Taichung Harbor Road, turn onto Hankou Road (which is Tunghsing Rd. on the opposite side) and take a left at the first traffic light (Szuchuan Rd.).
