One of North America's most popular, healthy and cost-effective forms of entertainment for all ages has come to town, with the opening of Taichung's first miniature golf course. Players--from as young as 5 years old up to pro golfers looking to practice their short game--will enjoy this attractive 12-hole course, conveniently located about 200 meters behind Wenxin Forest Park, behind a Sanlike golf pro shop. For only NT$150 a round (NT$100 for the second round), groups of up to four players putt their way through a dozen holes, each offering a unique, fun challenge. Mini golf is ideal for families, romantic dates and other occasions. There are also group discounts--call to arrange school field trips, private parties, tournaments, etc. A cafe area selling cheap soft drinks (no alcohol) and snacks, too. Heading south on WenXin Road, Section 1, turn right onto DaDun 7th Street just after the park, go through the next traffic light (on the park's back corner), and Mini Golf is 200 meters down on the left. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
A. The 12-hole course is a pleasant, natural, secluded oasis, complete with Arizona-style landscaping, a big waterfall and piped-in nature sound effects. The setting is even more attractive at night, thanks to the well-done atmospheric lighting.
B. Mini Golf is a collaboration between a group of young Canadian and Taiwanese business partners, who believe that this pastime will enjoy the same enormous popularity in Taiwan that it has in North American and other countries. |
