--By Catherine Liu, translated by Cara Steenstra
According to C.U. Club's Ezen, artistic creation
has its roots in the "collective unconscious", which
gives this club its name. C.U. Club definitely exudes a unique
artistic vibe when compared to most other local pubs. To enter
the club, you must first get into a custom-made iron cage
elevator, which feels like something transported out of an
old building in the eastern United States. Close the elevator's
iron door, head to the second floor and you will see many
symbols created out of what looks like electrical wiring.
The interior contains several sofa areas and there are also
three different areas with three completely different atmospheres--the
Chill-Out Room, Boom Boom Room and Outdoor Room. Every Wednesday,
Friday and Saturday there are choices between NT$2,000, NT$3,000,
NT$4,000 and NT$8,000 tables. For the rest of the week, there
is only a minimum bill of NT$250 per person. Whiskeys are
the main attraction at C.U. Club, which has a wider whiskey
selection than most places. The menu also offers a great variety
of dishes, such as the Roasted Beef Tenderloin with Brazil
Sauce (NT$360), which is a great value for high quality and
flavor. Their house cocktail, the C.U. Special Cocktail (NT$300),
is worth a try, too.
