2099
was named after its location – No. 99 Ta-Dun 20th Street.
Looking to the lounge from a distance, you will see red lanterns
swaying lazily in the hot breeze. Walk into the lounge and
you will find yourself surrounded by black and red colors
– a sudden bold combination. Amongst the comfortable
sofas is a grand piano. Each night, from 9 pm to 2:45 am,
a pianist will perform beautiful melodies to fulfill your
audio pleasure. If you are up to it, you are able to perform
a little something yourself. Unlike other lounges, this one's
focus is on introducing alcohol by the bottle rather than
by glasses of cocktail or beer. Keep in mind that 2099 does
serve cocktails and beers. Whisky ranges from NT$2800-8200.
Brandy ranges from NT$4400-6800. Something worth mentioning
is the appetizers, popular among regulars. 2099 was founded
by Mr. Chang and Ms. Ching. If you are a regular at 2099,
you must be familiar with Ms. Chang. The two friends decided
to work together out of pure passion for nightlife. Most customers
here over 30 years of age and/or top executives of prestigious
companies. There is a cover charge of NT$800. However, it
is not mandatory for ladies on Sundays and Wednesdays. You
can find 2099 on Ta-Dun 20th St, across The Landis Hotel's
parking lot. --By Catherine Liu, translated by Teresa Cheng |
