VISITOR RATINGS & REVIEWS
This large new bar has--as its name indicates--a pleasant,
old-world feel to it with a decor that exudes a slightly Latin,
Southwest American aura. Just off of the Hua Mei Street canal,
opposite Joric German Deli and next to Night Bar, Oldies is
situated in an old Hey-Song drink warehouse and maintains
the original, concrete floors for that old feeling. The no-frills
entrance and large, old wooden doors open to a spacious, dimly-lit
interior containing a big diamond-shaped wooden bar. Vintage
leather couches and chairs line the brown walls and ceilings,
which are decorated with an interesting collection of mirrors,
bird cages, and red, yellow and orange wall lamps. In keeping
with the "oldies" theme, a lot of the music is jazz,
blues and Latin, with some more contemporary tunes thrown
in. Beers range from draft Carlsberg to the bottles of Fosters,
Kirin and other brands, costing around NT$150. A good selection
of spirits and coctails range from NT$100 to NT$180. There
are also fine wines, Scotch whiskies and non-alcoholic beverages.
On the food side, there are some simple risotto and pasta
style dishes, plus the usual variety of appetizers and snacks.
