Husband-and-wife team Nicholas Alvarez and Vigi Yu recently consolidated the best features of their separate deli and restaurant into a single location, once known as Pasta Buena and now relabeled Vini's Deli (moved from MeiCun Rd.), serving various menu dishes and deli ingredients for dine-in and take-out. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Angela Cheng

A. Chef Nick, with culinary experience stretching to some of Europe and Canada's finest restaurants, poses with the new Braised Beef Pasta (NT$230), featuring big, tender chunks of beef and among 15-plus available pasta and risotto entrees. Other new choices include salads, steaks, ribs and bruchetta.

B. Five Daily Sandwiches (NT$180), out of a total list of 50, plus two Daily Soups (NT$100/cup, NT$150/bowl) can now also be enjoyed via three Sandwich Combos (NT$240-350), like the pictured "The Porker" (ham, bacon, turkey, cheddar, pommery mayo) served with Ham & Lentil Soup, a side salad and soft drink for NT$350.

C. Vini's comfortably seats dozens in attractive, warmly-lit first and second floor areas.
