This Italian restaurant is located in a low-key but beautiful all-white building on JingCheng 7st Street. Entrees include pastas, risotto and steaks (NT$650- 1,380 per set), with a set being a nine-course meal with a variety of regularly-changing items. An Italian himself, the owner loves wine so Appassionato offers a champagne and wine- tasting special offer during dinner times. Beginning August first, 2011, a glass of wine is NT$99 and the second glass is half-priced. The wait staff can provide suggestions about wine and meals, and the restaurant is now offering business lunch sets and afternoon tea. --By May Chen, translated by Angel Pu
A. Clams Risotto with Pine Nuts & Pesto (NT$850) featured a pine nut-covered risotto cooked the authentic Italian way, with the Italian rice, pesto and baked pine nuts all blending perfectly.
B. For the Veal Ribs with Italian Spicy Herbs & Red Wine Sauce (NT$1,380), the chef uses New Zealand veal ribs but not too many seasonings and processed ingredients so that diners can enjoy the meat's natural flavors. The ribs are tender and are even better when savored with a wine recommended by the waiters.
C. The modern design of the restaurant makes this place a popular wedding photo-shooting spot for newly-weds. The restaurant offers itself as such a venue for NT$1,200 per hour and there is even a dining-and-photo-shoot special for lovebirds to enjoy: NT$2,988 for a three-hour photo shoot plus a meal set (any risotto and spaghetti, lobster excluded). This offer includes 10% service charge and is only available on weekdays.
