San He Shan Japanese Eatery
393-1, DaLian Rd, Sec 1 (corner of DaLian & MeiChuan W Rd)

The chefs at San He Shan, the Huang brothers, dazzle guests with tasty food and pleasing presentation. Every two weeks, they will create new, Japanese-inspired dishes to accommodate guests of different tastes. The vegetables here vary according to season, so there are always new things popping up on the menu. Purple Perilla & White Pomfret (NT$200) is fish wrapped in a Perilla leaf and then fried to perfection. It is also quite tasty with your choice of liquor on the side. Thai-style Squid (NT$80) has chubby squid stuffed with sauteed cabbage. There is also a healthy hot pot dish filled with assorted mushrooms (NT$300/large, NT$200/small) and made with Chinese medicinal ingredients. When you order their popular barbecued kebabs, you get two kebabs with your choice of tender chicken, bacon, burdock, or beef (NT$30-60). If you like seafood, Grilled Mackerel Pike Fish is also available for only NT$40. --By Niang Chen, translated by Ann Lee
