Josie's Bistro

104, ChaoMa Rd; (04) 2251-9611
Hours: 10:30 am-9 pm (closed Mondays)

With funky flourescent green lighting, a club-like sign and modern decor, Josie's Bistro at first glance resembles a relaxing little lounge bar or hip cafe. However, as owner Josephine Yang notes, it's actually a European-style restaurant, offering good entrees for reasonable prices. Inspirations include her Finnish/Swedish husband, 16 years of life in America, and widespread global travels. Her quality French/German ingredients are all imported, in addition to other items like Italian fruit juices and German and English teas. The most expensive main entree (which comes with soup, salad and bread) is the NT$780 Ribeye Steak. Others include Filet Mignon with Goose Liver (NT$700), German Pig's Feet (NT$580), German Sausage (3 types, NT$250) and the NT$180 Italian Meatball or Seafood pastas. A business lunch special is also in the works. Various beverages include French wines, German Erdinger Beer (NT$160), Italian-style coffees (NT$80-120), Italian juices (NT$100) and various teas (NT$130). With only five inside tables and three outside, diners are guaranteed an intimate setting. Josie's Bistro is just west of the ChaoMa/LiMing roads intersection. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
