"We insist on using the best ingredients," says Wu, the manager of Superior Healthy Spicy Hot Pot. Unlike other all-you-can-eat style hot pot places, Superior offers friendly service with fine-quality meal selections. Their hot pot soup stock is made with multi-colored peppers, fennel seeds and a few Chinese medicinal ingredients for good measure. The pots come in three styles--Sichuan Spicy, Korean Kimchi, or Japanese Seaweed. The Japanese Seaweed comes with fresh seafood, delivered daily from the fishing port. Superior also has a selection of handmade squid pastes, shrimp pastes, and crab balls, so you can enjoy the taste without the added chemicals and preservatives found in a lot of pre-packaged stuff. For meat dishes, the restaurant serves a top-notch selection of imported Australian beef. Superior's high-ceilinged interior gives the place a fancy feeling and patrons can reserve private rooms for small gatherings in advance. On average, lunch costs about NT$330, dinner NT$400, and a midnight snack NT$330 per person. --By Marlene, translated by Ann Lee
