Little Turkey Restaurant

Little Turkey Restaurant

45, GongYi North St; (04)2320-0522
Hours: 10:30 am-12 am
No service charge. Credit cards not accepted.

This new Turkish owned and operated restaurant aims to provide Taichung's most authentic Turkish cuisine and atmosphere, with an extensive menu of about 50 dishes. Located just off of GongYi Road, on the alley between Big Tom ice cream parlor and 85 C Cafe, Little Turkey has a pleasant ambiance with 50 to 60 seats on two floors, decorated with Turkish art and handicrafts. Dishes, which use a lot of imported Turkish ingredients, include hard-to-find specialties, like the "shawerma" style Doner Kebabs (NT$210-250), Patlican (eggplant) and Domates (tomato) kebab dishes (NT$200), thinly-sliced Turkish-style Biftek (beefsteak) (NT$330), lamb or chicken Guvec casserole dishes (NT$220), and Tavuk Suyu Corba chicken soup (NT$90). Expect new Turkish dishes and specials to be added regularly. There is a 11 a.m.-to-2 p.m. Business Set Menu (NT$170-240) and live belly dancing 8 to 8:30 p.m. during Friday Turkish Nights. There are also desserts (like the tasty Rice Pudding), plenty of coffees, teas and beers (NT$100-150) and "hookah" water pipes (NT$400 for 30 minutes). --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
