It's certainly not every day that a restaurant themes itself on a famous 19th-century Danish author of children's stories. Named after Hans Christian Andersen, this cute-looking, two-floor Art Museum Parkway establishment creates an airy, storybook atmosphere with lots of wood and light colors, quaint decorative toys and an illustrated menu that resembles a children's book. Like its sister Aegean Sea restaurant down the road, all menu prices are listed in euros as well as NT dollars, with each menu item tied to a described (in Chinese) Andersen story. The Seafood Combo Soup with Vegetables and Rice (NT$290) is tied to the "Little Mermaid", for example. The Western entrees have a Danish/northern European twist to them, according to management, with dishes including the German Parsley Chicken Leg (NT$290), Seafood Risotto Rice with Butter and Green Sauce (NT$290), and Hamburger and french fries, served on a long bun. An additional NT$100 adds bread, soup, salad and a drink to any entree, while there's a NT$50 charge for added red wine or cake. There are lavender, caramel, chocolate and other milk teas (NT$130-170), ice cream, cookies and other desserts. From 2 to 5 p.m., a tea time special has a English-style tea stand with cookies and pastries, plus the choice of another dessert and a drink. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
