What used to be The Splendor Hotel's 12th-floor Romana buffet restaurant and Catwalk nightclub has now been completely remodeled into one big restaurant named Euro A, short for "European-Asian". As its name hints, this spacious, 400-seat establishment offers 80 different dishes from around the world, with special cooking stations for Western, Japanese, Korean, Thai, vegetarian and other cuisine. Authentic flavors and cooking expertise comes from new arrivals like Thai Chef Tom Shulinta and Japanese Chef Kenji Shindo. All food at Euro A is ordered a la carte, either off the menu or by strolling up to a cooking station, where food is fresh-made to order. Dishes include Japanese sushi (NT$70-180), sashimi (NT$140-280), tempura and charcoal-grilled entrees; Canadian, U.S. and Australian raw oysters (NT$220-280); pastas (NT$140-640); NT$200 pizzas; and Thai salads, sate (NT$150-180), red and green curries, and noodles. The hotel is promoting this as the first restaurant of its kind in Taichung, able to cater to a variety of tastes, and is offering a one-year, 15-percent discount card for those spending over NT$3,000. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
