HAAGEN-DAZS

(04) 2327-8988
9-1, TaiZhongGang (Taichung Kang) Road, Sec. 2
Hours: 11 am-11:30 pm
(open to 12:30 am Fri/Sat)

Taiwan's number-one imported ice cream brand has opened its first sit-down restaurant outside of Taipei city. The American company's sinfully-rich creations may now be enjoyed in the comfortable setting of a 100-seat restaurant on the ground floor of the glass building housing The Landis Hotel's Mandara Fitness Center. This provides you with the amusing contrast of watching people sweating off calories while--simultaneously just meters away--others are consuming calories one tasty spoonful at at time. There is also outdoor seating at umbrella-shaded tables. The ice cream parlor offers 24 periodically-changing flavors, such as Tiramisu, Cookies & Chocolate, Vanilla Caramel Brownie, Marsala Fig, Dulce De Leche, and Azuki Bean. Small cones are NT$100; scoops in cups are NT$100, NT$180 and NT$240 for one, two and three scoops, or NT$20 more for waffle cones, plus NT$15-25 for extra toppings. There are NT$240 pints of ice cream, NT$280 hand-packed pints and NT$480 quarts, plus NT$220 sundaes and milk shakes. Over a dozen colorful varieties of intricately-decorated ice cream cakes are NT$1,200 (5-inch), NT$1,600 (7-inch) and NT$2,200 (10-inch). Non-ice cream items include various coffees (NT$120), teas, cocoa, and cakes and muffins of the day. Everything is availble for dining in or take-out.
