In its 10th year of existence, La Terrasse continues to find new ways to impress its customers. This season, they have introduced a handful of great new dishes to keep you full all winter long.

On its most recent visit, my dining group was happily surprised by the creamy, delicious Baked Cauliflower with Cheese (NT$120), which disappeared fast and was good to the last bite. The Sauteed Mixed Mushrooms were also very good, soaked in butter and garlic. But the star of the meal was definitely the German Pig's Knuckle (NT$320).

Some of the classic Western dishes La Terrasse has been thriving on for years are the Potato Skins--a baked potato with bacon bits, onion and toppings (NT$120), the Chicken Wings (NT$190) and the always-good Smoked Salmon Plate (NT$190). The restaurant also serves fantastic Taiwan-style BBQ Pork Ribs (NT$480) and an amazing assortment of sandwiches, like the Tuna Melt on Rye (NT$190).

With an outdoor patio and comfortable indoor seating, La Terrasse has always been a good place to go for lunch, when you can order the soup of the day (NT$85) or one of six salads (NT$85-230). Relaxing over a meal, you can watch the world go by while enjoying international cuisine in one of Taichung's most popular restaurants.

If you haven't been to La Terrasse before, a good time to start would be Christmas, when they haul out all the trimmings to create a Christmas experience that will have you whistling "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" straight through the Chinese New Year. The five-course dinner will be served from December 22 to 25 and, if you would like to try it at home, you can order take-away turkeys, too.
