Galliano Italian Cuisine is an exquisite,
spacious dining setting on the eighth floor of the recently-opened
Windsor Hotel. The subdued, classy decor revolves around brown
color tones, with a very high ceiling, cushy seating, and
two-floor-high glass walls that look out onto the city and
an adjacent Japanese-style garden. In addition to the 70 indoor
seats, there are also additional tables on an attractive outdoor
deck. Galliano offers Italian and Western semi-buffet lunches
(11:30-2:30 p.m.) and dinners (5:30-9:30 p.m.) with main courses
ranging from the Lasagna with Bolognaise and Mozzarella Cheese
in Bechamel Sauce (NT$580/lunch) and German Pork Knuckles
with sauerkraut (NT$880/dinner) to Grilled Tiger Prawn &
Scallop (NT$1,080/lunch) or the Gratin Australia Fresh Lobster
served with saffron risotto (NT$1,680/dinner). All these include
a good buffet of appetizers, soups, salad and dessert (including
Haagen Dazs ice cream). There is a English-style teatime (2:30-4:30
p.m.) and the very swank, private ChaTeau Wine & Cigar
Bar (open 1:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m.) next door is the perfect place
to retire for post-dinner drinks and fine cigars, complete
with a well-stocked wine cellar and state-of-the-art sound
system (playing jazz). At Galliano, orders are taken until
11:30 p.m. and, for those who linger a little later, there
is live music after 9:30 p.m. |
