Chilling out with ice cream

Big Tom American Ice Cream
276, GongYi Road
(04) 2319-7199
Hours: 10 am-11 pm

--By Niang Chen and Douglas Habecker Translated by Cara Steenstra, Tre Gordon and Picker Chen

All the ice cream that is air-shipped to Bigtom's uses purely natural, organic, low-fat, low-sugar, healthy ingredients. Using high-tech methods, the air is released from the containers and the remaining molecules are smaller than that of water. This results in high molecular density, and tight and chewy ice cream. Presently, there are over 10 flavors of ice cream, including vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. Prices for one scoop (about 100g) are NT$90. A popular dish, Red Wine Ice Cream Teppanyaki, is a Black Forest Cake served on a hot iron plate with vanilla ice cream on top. Red wine is served with it creating a romantic sensation, a symphony of taste, smell and sight. Cocktail Ice Cream with Cherries is another one you'll want to try. On the right are cherries with a fruit tea cocktail and on the left is cake with an ice cream sundae. It's presented in a special dish, and just by looking at it will have you overflowing with bliss. Many customers are rushing in to try a scoop of ice cream using their patented spoon, with bumps on the bottom that stimulate your tongue, increasing saliva secretion and raising your basil metabolism. There is also live ice cream DIY instruction at Big Tom's. If you're call first to let them know.
