Those looking for authentic, traditional Korean
barbecue can head to Samwon Garden Traditional Korean Cuisine,
opposite Tunghai University. The traditional Korean-style
restaurant building, with over 1,000 pings of space, and decor
feature a mostly-wood structure, high ceilings and decorations
like rattan chairs, tableware and utensils imported from Korea.
This restaurant is the sister branch of Seoul's famous Traditional
Korean Restaurant, established in 1976 and very popular with
Korean celebrities such as Bae Yong Jun and Kim Hee Sun. The
Taichung restaurant can seat up to 100 and has VIP rooms for
business and social gatherings. The outdoor patio includes
stage and audience seating areas for performances, making
it a great place for bigger events like weddings or banquets.
Stone tables from Puli are each equipped with small coal-fired
stoves. The extensive menu includes Charcoal Grilled Prime
Beef Sirloin (NT$700), Charcoal Grilled Seasoned Beef Short
Ribs (NT$550), Charcoal Grilled Sliced Pork (NT$350). Other
perennial Korean favorites include the Spicy Rice Cake Finger
(NT$250), different styles of Pan-fried Pancakes (NT$300),
Ginseng Chicken Soup (NT$788), and Rice Mixed with Vegetables
& Meat in Hot Stone Pot (NT$250). Beer, red wine and other
non-alcoholic beverages are also available. |
