This restaurant focuses on providing a more
formal dinner and late-night dining experience for savoring
some exquisitely prepared pot-style cuisine. Located in the
attractive, two-floor building once home to Min Yue Hong Kong
Restaurant, it can hold up to about 240 people, with tables
seating four to six downstairs and up to 10 upstairs. As the
restaurant's Chinese name makes very clear, the specialty
here is traditional Shenzhen-Zhuhai (Cantonese) style pots,
especially the "Hua Diao" Chicken Pot (NT$380 small/NT$680
large). Fresh, tender chicken legs and wings are marinated
in various sauces and 10 ingredients before being deep fried
with hua diao wine and mixed with fresh vegetables and red/green
peppers. The covered pot is placed before diners for three
to five minutes, before being uncovered to allow the fragrant
aromas escape. Wait staff then mix ingredients further. After
the main ingredients are consumed, noodles, tofu "skin",
veggies and other items are added with a soup base for a final
broth. A specialty from the same origins is the Macau Bone
Pot (NT$480, NT$780), a hard-to-find dish that is reputedly
very healthy. The strong-flavored Spicy Crab Hotpot (NT$880)
is another draw, made with a large crab and 20 different ingredients,
mostly imported from Sichuan. During the opening period, those
purchasing NT$2,000 or NT$5,000 in dining coupons will respectively
get an additional NT$1,000 and NT$3,000 in coupons free. |
