A very chic new establishment, Hermon Restaurant
is located in the heart of Little Europe along busy JingCheng
Road. If this meticulously-designed, two-floor building looks
like a high-end lounge bar inside and out, that's because
it is, after 9:30 each night. The cozy-feeling decor uses
a lot of black-and-white elements, with tables and seats recessed
into the floor, high-backed red velvet sofas, hanging black
string curtains, big red rattan lamps, and Buddhist and Chinese
motifs. Despite the lounge atmosphere, however, this is also
a full-fledged restaurant serving an excellent range of high-end
Western lunches and dinners prepared by veteran Chef Ken Chang.
There are four lunch sets for NT$280, NT$680, NT$880 and NT$1,080,
including an appetizer, soup, salad, rice, drink and a choice
from three main courses. These include Baked Hallibut with
Mozzarella and Fresh Sage in Tomato Sauce (NT$680 set), Chianti
Grilled Beef Steak with Pesto Sauce and Cavia (NT$880) and
the Pan-fried Veal Tenderloin with Foie Gras and Green Pepper
Corns (NT$1,080). There are also other a la carte entrees
(NT$280-780), coffees and teas, and afternoon teatime hot
courses and desserts. A separate lounge bar menu also has
hot courses, beers (NT$160-200), plenty of cocktails (NT$200-300),
spirits and wines. |
