Although this Korean restaurant has been in
business for over a decade, it recently moved to new premises
and went through a complete visual make-over, presenting old
and new customers with a brand-new image. To accomplish this,
a Korean designer was invited to create a style that combines
traditional Korean and modern elements. The high ceilings
and the ceiling-to-floor windows on all three floors creates
a feeling of unobstructed space, while the tri-colored fans
also serve as decorations, adding to the overall Korean-style
atmosphere.
In a change from barbeque hot plates at most
restaurants, the smoke here is automatically sucked away from
underneath, so that customers don't have to worry about the
lingering smell of smoke on their clothing afterwards. The
food is similarly unique. Ginseng Chicken (NT$800) is a definite
must-order for many customers, and also is considered a great
therapeutic dish for the autumn season. Specially selected
young chickens are chosen for their tender meat. These are
stuffed with ginseng, chestnuts, pine nuts and sticky rice,
then cooked in ginseng soup for 90 minutes. The resulting
rich but smooth ginseng soup base and the tender meat make
it truly a chicken soup soothing to the body and soul.
The Veal Ribs (NT$480) use carefully selected
"Tai Su" veal ribs, cut into long strips with a
special cutting technique that gives it its special texture
as well. The beef is barbecued until semi-well-done, then
cut into pieces again. This allows customers who do not enjoy
gnawing meat off bones to wrap the tender beef morsels in
cabbage and enjoy the juicy flavors. The spicy pork offered
here is also pre-pickled in a tasty onion, pepper and garlic
paste. The Beef Offal Hot Pot (NT$800) has a soup base made
from specially selected beef bones. Finally, the Spicy Fried
New Year Cake is an authentic Korean snack that you should
not miss.
