While this place is not hard to find, it is
not marked by any numbered address sign, either. Owner Mr.
Shu (known to everyone as "Ah-Tai") will just tell
you his place is right between two power poles. This eatery
was recommended to me by several long-time customers. One
of these, Mr. Chen said that he had never been to another
restaurant where every part of the goat is available, right
down to the hooves--which, he fondly noted, were rich with
gelatin. Another customer, Mr. Liu, from the nearby garage,
raved about the delicious soup base and the bone marrow, which
is sucked up through a straw. The Imperial Pot contains over
20 to 30 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines and is highly nutritious.
The Original Flavor Stew is made from a soup base cooked with
over 200 to 300 pieces of goat bones and ginger. The Wine
Stew is a medicinal pot where wine is added to the soup base,
supposedly aiding blood circulation. This comes with a homemade
fermented tofu sauce and is only NT$300 per pot. One of the
most popular dishes here is the sweet and tasty Sliced Goat
Meat (NT$150). Stir-Fried Goat Marrow (NT$250) and Salted
Goat's Ribs (NT$150) are both unique dishes invented by the
owner to match the tastes of central Taiwan residents. Medicinal
Goat's Ribs and Medicinal Goat's Hooves (NT$70) are also available. |
