This
new Thai restaurant is both cozy and classy, with seating
for about 50 and warm, exotic decor that includes a variety
of Thai wood carvings, lots of elephants, wooden tables and
other nice touches. The management stresses that the food
here is pure, authentic Thai, without the Burmese, Vietnamese
and other outside influences found at many local Thai eateries.
The extensive menu offers a good variety of reasonably-priced,
tasty dishes representing all major regions of Thailand, and
served with imported Thai white rice. These include favorites
like the "Som Tum" green papaya salad (NT$150) from
northeastern Thailand; the "Gai Hor Baitey" deep-fried
marinated chicken pieces in Thai spices, wrapped in pandan
leaves (NT$220); and the spicy Thai shrimp cakes with garlic
and coriander in green curry paste. Other good choices include
the"Yum Nur Yang" grilled beef salad (NT$180), the
"Tom Yum" spicy and sour chicken or prawn soups,
and the chicken, beef or shrimp with eggplant and sweet basil
in green curry paste with coconut cream (NT$180). Diners can
specify how spicy they want their food. To cool off, there
is also Thai Singha Beer (NT$80), coconut milk and, during
warmer months, Thai-Style Milk Tea (NT$60). --By Douglas Habecker,
