Taichung
once again has a dedicated Swiss dining spot, thanks to
the opening of this attactive, medium-sized restaurant
on the first floor of the Li Chia Royal Garden Hotel. Helping
guarantee the quality and authenticity of a dining experience
here is Manager Patton Yang, who spent over a decade working
in Taipei with Taiwan's best-known Swiss chef, Horst Trummer,
and his Chalet Swiss restaurant. This restaurant should
have no problem drawing a wide range of diners, thanks
the fact that the price range on its menu is exceptionally
broad, ranging from simple NT$150 dishes to high-end offerings
costing over NT$1,000. Favorites include Prawn Madagascar
(NT$520), Snail Bourguignonne (NT$220), Sirloin Cafe de
Paris (NT$500), Pig Knuckle with Sauerkraut (NT$420), and
the Bisque of Crab soup (NT$120). Also available are the
quintessentially-Swiss cheese, oil and chocolate fondues.
Other selections include souffles, Crepes Suzette, Breaded
Pork Schnitzel (NT$150), and Weinerschnitzel (NT$600).
Meal sets include three business lunches (NT$200-480) and
NT$580 Gourmet and Monthly specials. Diners get free parking
at the hotel (in back or basement), which is located about
100 meters east of the Gong Yi/Mei Cun (Tsun) roads intersection.
