VISITOR RATINGS & REVIEWS
This charming restaurant offers exquisite views, friendly service,
beautiful surroundings and excellent food. About a 30-minute drive
from Taichung city, Moon Light Cafe is located near the top of Jiu
Tong (Barrel) Mountain. This gives it one of the best views of Taichung
city found anywhere. The building itself is wonderful, two-story
wooden complex which faces the western horizon and has terrace and
garden tables. On clear days it is possible too see all the way
to Taichung harbor. Owner/manager Jennifer Ho and her staff will
gladly lead you through the menu, the creation of a master chef
who has been perfecting his craft for more than 30 years. The Japanese-style
dishes include things like, baked eel, sea-cucumber stew, and sirloin
style beef. Accompanying these main dishes is a tasty salad and
miso soup (NT$250-480). Drinks include a wide variety of flavorful
herbal teas and robust coffees that are a treat to the senses(NT$120-160).
Desserts consist of homemade cookies and cheesecakes that will top
off a memorobale meal (NT$60-90). The staff can also help diners
order one of the many barrels of wines that line the shelves. For
those unfamiliar with Jiu Tung Mountain, it is best to call the
restaurant for driving directions. --By Mark Paas
