Aussie Peter O'Brien, a 10-year resident of Taiwan, has spent the last 42 years making his own sausages. For the past year, he has sold these in Taichung, but now has opened his own little eatery. Located on the pedestrian-only street, known as Sun Mall, behind the Geant Hsitun hypermarket (just down from O'Chang's pub), this place serves up a wide variety of interesting meals and other foods from breakfast to dinner. Breakfast includes items like scrambled eggs, bacon and toast (NT$130), three pancakes with maple syrup (NT$140) and omelettes. For lunch and dinner, there are many choices, like Curry Pork Pie with mashed potatoes, peas and gravy (NT$180); Scotch Egg with french fries and salad (NT$180); Cordon Bleu (NT$280); Porterhouse Steak with fries and salad (NT$220); and Fish and Chips (NT$120). There are also five NT$180 sausage meals, with choices like Chorizo, Bratwurst, Italian and breakfast sausages. In addition to Peter's sausages, take-away items include things like pork pies (NT$40), fish and chips, and triple-decker Dagwood sandwiches (NT$80). There are plenty drinks, too, from coffees to juices.--By Douglas Habecker
