Ideally located in the heart of the Jing Cheng Road dining and shopping area, about a block from Taichung Kang Road, this pleasant restaurant has a classy, upscale feel to it, but provides good food for very affordable prices. The bright, cozy interior features Asian-style decor with plenty of light wood and bamboo. Diners each get their own cooking station, which they can use to prepare a wide range of ingredients, ranging from short ribs to shrimp balls and lettuce. This may be ordered individually for NT$30 to NT$150 but a more convenient option are the set menu options, which all come with vegetables, rice or noodles, fruit, ice cream and coffee. These choices include short ribs and seafood (NT$390), lamb shoulder (NT$180), US Prime Ribeye (NT$340), and hot and spicy chafing dish (NT$250). Any of these can be ordered individually for about NT$90 less. Diners get a choice of accompanying satay-style or lighter Japanese-style dipping sauces, which can be mixed with red peppers, scallions and garlic. On weekdays, there are NT$150 lunch specials. In addition to the main course, diners can also choose two of three options--fruit, ice cream and coffee. A variety of beverages may also be ordered separately.--By Douglas Habecker
