This attractive
restaurant has actually been around for a while but now is in the
process of being completely revamped, thanks to the efforts of its
new Belgian chef/consultant, Nico Van Den Acker, formerly of Antwerpen
Grand Cafe (see April Cover Story). Nico, who is around Coffee Box
on most days, offers a wide variety of dishes including Beef Tenderloin
Steak (NT$450), Roasted Spring Chicken with garlic (NT$380), Belgian
Mussels with fries, Green Pepper Beef Fried Rice (NT$160), Curry
Beef Rice (NT$180), and Honey Chicken Leg Rice. There are also Belgian
pancakes, waffles, salads, omelets (NT$65), soups and sandwiches,
such as the Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame. There are plenty
of coffee options, from the NT$70 espresso to the NT$130 Antwerp
coffee, plus teas and juices. For NT$99, one can get a coffee or
tea plus a pancake or other dessert. Most unique is the selection
of fine Belgian beers, with brands like Palm and Duvel, starting
at NT$150. Coffee Box is located just off of Wenhsin Road, section
four--heading east, turn right into the narrow alley about 50 meters
before the big Mitsubishi Motors dealer.
