Definitely one of Taichung's more attractive Japanese establishments--albeit in a modern sort of way--Asakusaya is among a striking string of new restaurants along the city's so-called 'Champs Elysees', near the Taiwan Museum of Art. With two floors and 150 seats--either at tables or the sushi counter--the restaurant features very reasonably-priced cuisine, with sashimi (raw fish) dishes ranging from NT$130 to NT$280, NT$100 tempura dishes and sushi selections between NT$90 and NT$200. Just as good are a variety of set-menu meals--such as a beef rice bowl, sashimi and other main courses--costing NT$220 to NT$280 and including salad vegetables, Japanese egg and drink. Among the best features here is the relatively-plentiful parking, found along the grassy, two-road (Wuchuan 5th and 7th streets) mall and the fact that Asakusaya has food until 3 a.m.
