Foreign visitors welcomed to centenary events, celebrations for enjoyable, high-quality tourist experiences at Taichung's 'La Mere Terre' The opening ceremony for the International Spotlight Central Region program was jointly hosted at the "LOHAS Square" of the Calligraphy Parkway on August 24 by Tourism Bureau, Republic of China, and iSee Taiwan Foundation. Distinguished guests included Tourism Bureau Deputy Director Liu Xi-ling, Taichung City Vice Mayor Hsiao Chia-Chi, and iSee Taiwan Foundation CEO Jessica Huang.

The International Spotlight Central Region program, jointly sponsored by Tourism Bureau, Republic of China and iSee Taiwan Foundation, was officially launched in Taichung on August 24 along the Calligraphy Greenway. Thanks to this new initiative, local and foreign visitors will now be able to enjoy even more fun in this "La Mere Terre" (means Mother Earth in French), or "le mei di" (meaning place of joy and beauty in Chinese), via a variety of fresh, new tourist experiences.

The International Spotlight Central Region program is planning to develop a central Taiwan "La Mere Terre" to underline the region's easy-going, friendly atmosphere. Related planned events will include many entertaining and educational activities.

The main venue for these events is LOHAS Square (from WuQuan 5th to WuQuan 7th streets, also known as Art Museum Parkway) where some activities--such as the "Cool Summer Concert", "Savor tasty pastries and beautiful music during the Mid-Autumn Festival", and " Enjoying Movies with Something Sweet "--have taken place since August.

The two main events this month will be the Oct. 8-9 " Reminiscences on the past century of Taiwan history " and Oct. 22-23 "The Harvest Festival of the Aborigines". Regardless of where they're from, foreign tourists who show up for these events will experience an enjoyable, educational time learning about Taiwan's rich history and the culture of the island's indigenous peoples.

October promises to see plenty of worthwhile events at "La Mere Terre". No matters who you are and where you're from, please join us for some wonderful, unforgettable activities together!
