New 'do's for Men & Women

By Ann Li Translated by Ann Lee

Are you unhappy with your hair and don't know what to do with it in the morning? Unless you have a lot of time on your hands to frequent the salon or spend hours tinkering with that messy mane of yours, chances are you might be looking for a new hairdo. Well, stress no more; we are here to tell you that there are only two things you need to get you started on a new look--a curling iron and hair product like gel, wax, or pomade. With just a couple of minutes everyday and a little bit of patience, you can save yourself some salon money, not to mention a lot of frustration.

Pic 7: Viola! A new spring 'do' for you!

For Women:

This Springy Bob is great for women with medium/short hair.

Pic 1: Our lovely assistant's "before" shot.
Pic 2: Start at the back of your head. Curl the top layer of hair at the ends.

Pic 3 Pic 4

Pic 3: Make sure your curling iron is horizontal. If it's too vertical, you'll get spirals.
Pic 4: After finishing the top layer, curl the bottom layer of your hair and then move out to the sides. Give your hair more volume by pushing it up with your fingertips.

Pic 5 Pic 6

Pic 5: Use a little bit of hair product and your fingertips to lift, texture, and separate chunks and strands.
Pic 6: Spray or gel to keep your new style in place.

Pic 7

Pic 7: After--a trendy new look for warm weather.

This graceful stlye will fit right in with the spring flowers, and is ideal for medium/long and wavy hair.

Pic 1: Before--If you want, you can curl your hair beforehand.
Pic 2: Separate your hair into top and bottom parts. Pull to the back of your head.

Pic 3 Pic 4

Pic 3: Tie a 'knot' through the top half of your hair.
Pic 4: Use a large clip or several small pins to keep the 'knot' in place. Pin it against your scalp, where the 'knot' is close to your roots.

Pic 5 Pic 6

Pic 5: Twist the bottom half up your hair against the right side of the 'knot'. Make sure to twist it tight against your head.
Pic 6: Pull the twist up and clip or pin it next to the 'knot'. Make sure it's secure.

Pic 4: The finished look.

This twist on classic T-Bird is a retro hairstyle for men with medium/long hair.

Pic 1&Pic 2

Pic 1: Use a round brush or a diffuser attachment to blow dry the roots of your hair to give it volume. Make sure to train the front of your hair with a little under-curl.
Pic 2: Get some hair product on your fingers and work it through your hair. Start from the bottom and work your while to the top as you push and comb the sides of your hair towards your ears.

Pic 3

Pic 3: Use your fingers to tease the front of your hair to the side of your face. Work with chunks to create more texture. Make sure the two sides look balanced.

Pic 7: And the front.

This trendy 'faux-hawk' is great for young men with short to medium hair (6-8) cm.

Pic 1 Pic 2

Pic 1: Use a squeeze bottle or just your hands to wet your hair slightly.
Pic 2: Squeeze a small-coin sized amount of hair product onto your hands.

Pic 3 Pic 4

Pic 3: Start working the product into your hair.
Pic 4: Push the sides of your hair down and the top part of your hair up towards the middle--you can use your fingers and palms to pull the hair upwards, into a near-point.
