Do you know who's making your dinner?

When you dine out in Taichung these days, you may be surprised to find out that the face behind the kitchen door or greeting you as you sit down may be anything but Chinese.  Instead, that person might hail from the southern heel of Italy, the far-away setting of Afghanistan or the sun-drenched shores of California.

As Taichung has grown in size and scope over the past several years, the city has seen a small explosion of foreigners who have decided to try their hand at the restaurant business.  The challenge of running a dining establishment in a foreign land is never an easy one and many have come, tried and gone for various reasons.  However, local residents can be thankful that there are still a good, growing number of outsiders who come, stay and continue to provide diners with an excellent variety of cuisine.

Want to know who they are?  Check out the following intelligence update on who's who among this crowd.  And, when you're done reading, do yourself and them a favor and head for their doors for your next meal.
